The producer for Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Yoshinori Kitase, revealed in a new interview several bits of information about the game. The game is one of the most important projects that Square Enix has ever produced.

Kitase answered several questions about Final Fantasy 7 Remake via a new interview with Game Informer. One of the interesting things he discussed was the change of the combat system.

He said: “We haven’t completely transitioned into action, but as our director [Tetsuya] Nomura-san says, Final Fantasy (in terms of action games) is best represented by Dissidia in the current landscape. In terms of the Final Fantasy action battles people have experienced themselves, that is most familiar to them these days.

In terms of the image of the battle system, that’s where we’re getting the feel from. It won’t be as action-focused as Dissidia, of course, but the the visuals and how the gameplay feels in essence will be drawn from that Dissidia-esque style.

Kitase also confirmed in the interview that they have determined the number of episodes that Final Fantasy 7 Remake will have. He promises that it will be a full-scale game in each part of the series. However, he didn’t want to share how many episodes it will be as he thinks plans could change.

It’s expected the first part of the game will be out sometime in 2017 and subsequent episodes will be out from then on. Square Enix says it should tell a full story, so don’t worry about the remake being low on content.
